North Dakota Oil Rig Explosion

There were a total of five oil rig related deaths and more than 1,800 injuries in North Dakota in 2011.

In September of 2011, in Bismarck, North Dakota, an oil rig explosion killed two workers and severely injured two others. In July of that same year another drilling rig exploded, apparently due to hitting a gas bubble during drilling, and critically injured two employees. Oil Rig Explosion Lawsuit

The men involved in the second gas explosion, filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for their pain, medical expenses and loss of income. One of the victims had burns covering 60 percent of his body. He also suffered septic shock and as a result, has heart problems.

The lawsuit alleges that the responsible party rushed the operation and failed to take the proper precautions. In addition, the suit claims that the pipe plan and cement programs were negligently designed.
