Beaumont, Texas Highway Pileup Leaves 2 Dead and Many Injured

On Thanksgiving Day there was a massive pileup on Interstate 10 in Beaumont, Texas. There was at least 140 vehicles involved. Two people were killed and more than 80 were injured. The accident occurred in extremely foggy conditions at about 8:45 in the morning.

The couple that was killed were driving their SUV when they were crushed by a tractor trailer. According to the report, there was an accident on the eastbound side of the highway that led to the chain reaction of accidents. Apparently the fog was so thick that the police didn’t realize they were dealing with a multi-vehicle accident at first.

The catastrophe included many other tractor trailer trucks. It took eight hours before either side of the highway was opened.

Any time there is a multiple-vehicle collision, there are often devastating results. However, when tractor trailers are involved, the devastation seems more likely.
