Injuries Follow a Chemical Plant Explosion in Louisiana
At approximately 8:30 Thursday morning, police were notified of an explosion at the Williams Geismar chemical plant in Louisiana.
Many details have not been yet released. However, the news media has stated that as many as 25 people were taken to the hospital to be treated for burns and other injuries. There have been no confirmed fatalities thus far.
Following the explosion a 2 mile perimeter was set up as a precaution. There are apparently no residential areas within that space. There is also apparently no danger of harmful chemicals being released into the air.
The emergency response crews were said to be properly trained and were able to contain the fire. Their priority was the safety of the people in the area.
